Useful Information & Terms and Conditions
| If no payment has been made on the 1st of every month, no tuition will take place. The fees must be paid for the whole month on the 1st of every month. Lessons are charged as per the rates as discussed at the time of enquiry/increase notice. Note: all fees are set and not open to negotiation. If payment is late, a £5 fee will be applied to that month’s invoice. If you’d like to be provided with an invoice, please let us know and we will arrange for this to be sent. | |
| Unarranged Absences (such as sickness): | Ifthe student is unwell, they will be pardoned to miss the session. They will be required to reschedule the lesson for another time when theyare well. Cancelled/missed sessions are non-refundable. You will still be charged if a lesson is cancelled by yourselves less than 48hours’ notice with the exception of extreme emergency. |
| Arranged Absences (such as holiday): | If there are any planned holidays, this is completely acceptable, however, notice must be given at least 2 weeks in advance. Each student is allowed to reschedule a maximum of two lessons per term, with at least two weeks’ advance notice, and any additional rescheduling requests may not be accommodated; however, you will be charged in full due to planning time. This is to ensure consistency and progress for the student. |
| Tutor holidays and bank holidays | The Learning Centre will notify you of any dates when the centre is closed. On these dates, the sessions will not take place, however, if preferred, we can reschedule for another time. This can be decided closer to the time. No payment will be taken on the dates that we are closed. |
| Tutor sickness | You will not be charged if I am ill, however, I will offer the opportunity to reschedule the lesson to another suitable time for you. |
| Class Dojo | Please sign up to Class Dojo – the link will be sent to you. It’s free! All updates are posted on there and we also use this platform for rewards too! |
| Homework | In order for the student to progress, it is necessary that a short amount of homework or extra work is set. This is usually a small quantity of work and typically involves finishing off work done in the lesson. If the client/parent does not wish the student to have any extra work such as this; they need to communicate this with the owner (Nikita Patel).
It is important that the student completes the homework in readiness for the next lesson. All homework is marked and feedback is given.
Parents/clients should encourage the student to do the homework set, as it is likely to result in a more rapid progress in their student’s learning. If you or the child prefers no homework, please let the owner (Nikita Patel) know. |
| Grade/scores | The Learning Centre do not hold responsibility for the outcome of your child’s grade/score. We can only support you to achieve the desired outcome however, it is ultimately up to the child on the test day. |
| Registration for the Grammar test (11 Plus) | It must be noted that it’s the parent’s responsibility for registering and submitting applications for your child’s place for the Grammar test. The usual procedure is to contact the school of your choice over the phone and request a prospectus and an application form or you may download all the information online and submit it online. The Grammar School application form should be completed and returned; this must be done before the cut-off date for the consortium. All consortiums have their own cut-off date. Please note that if the schools do not receive the applications before the cut-off date your child will not be able to participate in the 11 Plus examinations.
You will also need to fill in a local Education Authority (LEA) school form (this is supplied by your child’s current school or can be submitted online). This form is to advise the LEA that you are considering sending your child to a grammar school. This form is as important as the grammar school application form – if you do not fill one of these in, even if your child passes the test a place will not be made available at the grammar school. |
| Reading books/Vocabulary cards | Each lesson your child will be given a book of their choice to read at home. This book must be handled with care and returned to the tutor when finished reading. If reading books are damaged or lost, TLC reserve the right to charge you the full cost of the book. To help us manage resources fairly, we ask for a £25 deposit before issuing any materials (online students only). This deposit will be fully refunded when you decide to stop tuition and have returned all resources in good condition. |
| Session arrival and departure | Please arrive promptly for the start of each session. Please collect promptly at the end of each session. I will not be available until the agreed start time of our session, although you are most welcome to wait on my driveway if you do arrive early. If you arrive late for a session then that session will still end at our previously agreed time. If your child will not be collected by someone that I am not familiar with, you must let me know beforehand and a password will be provided. If the adult knows the password, only then the child will be released. |
| Camera recording for safeguarding procedures | A camera recording will be put into place for when the lessons take place to cover any safeguarding issues. This recording cannot be viewed other than the child’s parent for a safeguarding reason and the tutor (Nikita Patel). No clips of the recording will be posted anywhere. It must be noted that in school, additional adults are present throughout the day therefore no cameras are needed. This applies to both face to face and online lessons. However, my staff and I do hold full DBS checks too which I will provide as proof at the beginning of the free assessment. |
| Access to Online Lessons via Meeting Link | The link to the video call will be provided prior to the scheduled lesson. It is the responsibility of the student and/or parent to ensure that they have reliable internet access and the correct login credentials to join the session. If a student is unable to access the lesson due to technical issues on their end—such as device incompatibility, internet connectivity problems, or incorrect login details—and other students are able to access the session without issue, the lesson will not be rescheduled or refunded. We recommend testing access in advance. |
